Today is a big one for Mass Effect fans: it is the day that the final DLC of the entire Mass Effect trilogy will be released, effectively ending all of the adventures of Commander Shepard.
BioWare community manager Chris Priestly released some additional launch details on his Twitter, as well as answered a few fan questions regarding timeframes and problems downloading the DLC. Here are the details:
- The Xbox 360 version of the DLC (which is in two parts) is reportedly already available. But at this time there are problems finding Part 2 using the normal Mass Effect route, so use the search feature to find it.
- Xbox 360 owners will need to fully download both parts before they can begin playing.
- PlayStation 3 owners will have to wait until around 6:00 p.m. EST / 9:00 p.m. PST to be able to download the game. Priestly says this is because this is Sony's global release schedule – this the time of day when Sony releases their updates.
- PC owners will be able to download the game through Origin around 2:00 p.m. EST / 5:00 p.m. PST. They will need 4.1 GB of space.
Priestly is also very interested in fan reaction; he is actively searching to find out what fans thought about the DLC, though at the time of this post it is unlikely any but a few have played through it completely.
In the meantime, it may be wise to stay off fan sites and the like because of inevitable spoilers, which always spread like wildfire. Be sure to let Priestly know exactly what you think when you finish the DLC by tweeting him @BioEvilChris and feel free to let us know in the comments.
