It is common knowledge that the internet is full of pirates. But what happened yesterday was not the pirates that usually sail these digital waters. A trailer was leaked, and made its way around the net, despite Ubisoft’s best efforts to contain it, like a drunken boatswain trying to keep the rum in a leaky barrel.
This trailer was the announcement of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, a pirate themed installment in the stab happy series. Ubisoft had intended for the trailer to be revealed on Monday, but the misfits of the internet made short work of that schedule. The CG rendered trailer was narrated by none other than Blackbeard, telling his mates about the upcoming game’s protagonist.
And now, yet more content of the game has been leaked, or perhaps prematurely released by the official Assassin’s Creed Chilean Facebook community. You can see those below. Given the lack of an embargo on these materials, we will assume that these screenshots are intended for the game’s dedicated community and not a leak per se.
However, that barrel of rum has more holes than a swiss cheese it seems, as the misfits who leaked the original trailer appear to be a gang of journalists, who don’t care much about the non-disclosure-agreements they signed, and so once more broke Ubisofts embargo. Guess that pirate spirit ran away with them. This new trailer, which you can find on GameFront, gives more details to the game’s protagonist, Edward Kenway. It is again a CG render, showcasing Kenway in three dimensional still imagery, living the pirate live, stabbing and swashbuckling, piloting ships and being all “Arrrr!” from every angle.
