According to a message from their official twitter account, the newest release from the wonderful dudes at Vlambeer will be coming to iOS devices in the extremely near future. “Ridiculous Fishing” received iOS approval a matter of hours ago and the game is just being polished up now in the run up for the quickly incoming release.
Vlambeer are known for previously putting out the sublimely simple but challenging Super Crate Box and most prominently, Serious Sam: The Random Encounter, though partners in the team have worked on a variety of other projects with other development studios and released excellent solo works.
This new game takes the relaxing pastime of fishing and supercharges it. You start by throwing a line down into the ocean and trying to avoid all the fish that pass. As soon as you hit one your line will retract and you have to catch as many as possible on your return. One your line’s back to sea-level the fish are thrown into the air and you shoot them. Doing this will earn points to unlock more effective ways to do this.
Ridiculous Fishing is the first release planned for this year with Luftrausers, their game about WWII era fighter-piloting, also soon on the way.
The game’s release was troubled by a copycat that released long before they could have been finished. This left the team demotivated and they moved on to other projects. They finally mustered enough interest again, cleared their other obligations away and got around to finishing the thing.
