Nate The Hate Podcast Suggests Halo Is Coming To Switch 2 & PS5

January 10, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

Are more first-party Microsoft titles heading to competitor platforms this year?

There was a big movement these past few years with Microsoft. After acquiring some notable companies, most recently Activision Blizzard, there was a new move to release games on competitor platforms. Xbox, Nintendo, and PlayStation duked it out for years with hardware and software sales. But we’ve seen more Xbox first-party titles come to rival platforms, making Xbox the largest third-party publisher. Could Halo be the next IP to see the jump onto a rival platform this year?

Phil Spencer has mentioned in the past that these games that would come to rival platforms would be on a case-by-case basis. So, there wasn’t any indication of what was on or off the table. We’re heading into 2025, and Microsoft not only has hardware it supports but also software and even services. After all, look at their This Is An Xbox campaign. It’s all about the ability to play new AAA games on various hardware through Xbox Game Pass.

Now industry insider Nate The Hate has released a podcast alerting fans on their predictions of what 2025 might hold for Xbox. One comment made is that this year, we will see Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Flight Simulator 2024 release on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. That’s some big first-party exclusives that could see even more players enjoying their games.

That was also met with the anticipation of potentially a Gears of War collection that would be announced this year and released at launch for the PlayStation 5. It’s certainly an interesting time for Microsoft. Likewise, it’s equally frustrating for some fans who might have invested in the Xbox brand only to see these heavy-hitting games come out to rival platforms. At any rate, nothing official has been stated by Xbox quite yet on the future of Halo: The Master Chief Collection or the latest installment to Flight Simulator. We’re also still waiting for Nintendo to reveal their next console officially.
