In a surprise announcement buried at the end of a press release issued mere minutes following Sony's PlayStation 4 event this evening, it appears as though Watch Dogs will be coming to the Wii U. The big brother action title centers on Chicago citizen and vigilante Aiden Pearce who uses his smartphone and the city's many security cameras to surveil the unsuspecting public and fight crime. You can see this gameplay feature in action in the game's new footage, illustrating the player's ability to reap personal information about the NPCs they encounter and use it to their benefit.
Watch Dogs is expected on PlayStation 4 upon its launch as well as PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, and yes, the Wii U. There is not yet a release date, but it's likely that it will debut simultaneously on all platforms and thus won't be coming out til at least the end of the year, perhaps during the holiday season or the PlayStation 4 launch itself.
