It appears that you’ll have to fight your way to a reward rather than simply share a Facebook post this time, as Sony and the developers at SCE Santa Monica have devised a competition of sorts for the upcoming God of War: Ascension.
All you have to do is simply state your allegiance to either the Spartan or Trojan cause and you’ll automatically be signed up for Rise of the Warrior.
Currently, the Spartans have – not surprisingly – won two of the three rounds. The first team to reach 10,000,000 points in the third round will receive early access to the demo on February 20. If the Spartans win, it’ll be a clean sweep and their newest members will get early access. If the Trojans win, all of their current team members will also receive early access.
The actual demo will be released on February 26, so if the Trojans do indeed lose again, they won’t actually have to wait that much longer. The full game is currently pegged for sale on March 12, and this late in the game, delays don’t tend to happen. It’ll certainly be interesting to see what SCE Santa Monica has cooked up in terms of the multiplayer portion in God of War, as many say the franchise can’t support such a feature.
The franchise has seen a huge amount of success and has been Sony’s saving grace on a number of occasions. God of War 3 came at a time when Sony really needed it, so Kratos has become somewhat of an icon for the Playstation brand. While Ascension may not be seeing the same hype train as previous entries, we’re no less excited for the game.
