Back in the days of PS2 you used to visit a store, purchase a game, slam it right into your console and get gaming. Then when PS3 came along, it was a little frustrating to purchase a game and wait for title to update before you hopped online, but nevertheless, you could still play the single-player while you waited – now it seems that there is almost no point to buying physical titles, L.A. Noire’s physical disk provides only 4GB of game data, while the rest needs to be downloaded from Xbox Live before the game can be played.
Obviously, with Nintendo’s Switch this move makes sense because the cartridges are considerably small storage devices – but with Xbox One and PS4 this seems like a fairly odd move.
