Space Wars: Interstellar Empires will be arriving on Steam as a F2P massively multiplayer online title early next month, Desert Owl Games (Pox Nora, The Huntsman: Winter’s Curse) has announced. Like 2014’s Pox Nora, it injects gameplay with turn-based tactics, but abandons fantasy in favour of a sci-fi skin.
Space Wars: Interstellar Empries sees you pilot a ship, manage a crew, and strategically balance power across multiple systems. As captain of one of four races, your central aim is to acquire wealth and conquer new galactic territories. A comprehensive skill tree lets you upgrade Captain and Officer abilities, transforming your fleet into a hardened cosmic army, and unveiling increasingly powerful ships as you gain more experience.
In addition to full-fledged MMO warfare that pits up to 20 vessels against each other, players should expect a detailed, combat fuelled campaign that incorporates voiced cutscenes.
Creator Hooman Simyar says it’s a ‘dream’ to be able to make Space Wars: Interstellar Empires a reality:
“Realizing this vision has been such a ride and I’m eager to share it with the gaming community next month when Space Wars: Interstellar Empiresfinally launches on Steam Early Access.”
Interested cadets can sign up for the Space Wars: Interstellar Empires beta right here. It will begin its ascent into Steam’s early access program (PC, Mac, Linux) from December 6.
