PlayStation Trophies Can Earn You PSN Points To Spend On Games

November 6, 2017 by Jordan Coetsee

It’s only for those in the U.S unfortunately.

If you were like me who wasn’t really bothered about the trophy system on your PlayStation console, we have some interesting news for you that may make you revist your older titles to grab ’10 headshots in 10 seconds’ or whatever game developers like to use to challenge players. Trophies can now earn you PlayStation Network points to spend on the PSN Store. Unfortunately, the reward system isn’t as great as you thought it would be.

First off, trophies you earn only count to the rewards system, after you opt into the reward programme. Secondly, you can only earn up to 12 Trophy Passes per year – and thirdly, it’s only available to those residing in the U.S. Earning 100 Silver Trophies gets you 100 points, 25 Gold Trophies nets you 250 points, and 10 Platinums yields 1000 points – they’re worth $1, $2.50, and $10 respectively.

While the system isn’t that much to offer gamers, it’s still a cool incentive to actually make grinding for trophies worthwhile – even if it is only for a little bit of credit. Thoughts on the new trophy reward system? Let us know in the comments below.

If you are looking at earning points to spend on games in a little bit of an easier fashion, Sony recently revealed a credit card which provides gamers with exclusive benefits such as discounts on Sony products as well as a point system to spend on games. Sign up and you’ll receive 50$ credit, right off the bat.

‘Sony has teamed up with Capital One to introduced a new method of payment for the PlayStation store: The Sony Credit card. The idea behind the card is to essentially offer gamers rewards program for buying digital sony products, physical sony equipment and paying cellphone bills

When you use the card you earn points, 100 points is the equivalent to 1$, which you can use to buy more Sony products.’
