Before hitting the download button for EA’s upcoming shooter, Star Wars: Battlefront II, you may want to hold off for just a little longer. During a recent inventors call, Blake J. Jorgenson ( E.VP and Chief Financial Officer at Electronic Artes) mentioned that the video game may be discounted alongside the theatrical release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
“We will most likely discount the game like we did last time around the movie launch, and maybe you’ll even see some selective discounts around the holidays, either Thanksgiving or Christmas. That’s the way the games business always has worked. And so if you see the title on discount, don’t read anything into that other than the fact that that’s the way you sell games in the holidays.”
To reiterate Jorgenson’s point, there are usually Christmas specials that pop up around December, even for recently released titles – but even so, it’s always good to know that titles are specifically planned to have dropped prices for those that don’t like shelling out loads of cash when a game launches.
Star Wars Battlefront II is set to release November 17th, 2017.
