According to MCV The Old Republic set for release this September. Earlier it was thought there would be a Spring release, but sources now say that it has been pushed back. John Riccitello himself had suggested the Spring 2011 was likely. Bioware has been developing the title for two years and says it has the most content of any title to date with more than Mass Effect 1 and 2, Dragon Age, KOTOR and Baldur's Gate (good lord) put together.
Unfortunately The Old Republic has been having a number of problems. An anonymous BioWare dev claimed back in October that 300 million had already been spent on the project and the game "will be one of the greatest failures in the history of MMOs." Also there is the recent news of the game's investors betting on its spectacular failure (Is it just me or does this sound like Wall Street in 08.) It doesn't help that all MMOs going after World of Warcraft's monolithic market-share have all doomed themselves to failure, with those succeeding carving out niche corners of the market like EVE Online. Plus with competition from Risen also trying to take on WOW, in it's commercials no less, The Old Republic has to be looking at the competition around them as well.
