One of the best releases of last year that didn't get nearly as much as play as it should have was Sine Mora. The time bending shmup was a co-production between Grasshopper Manufacture and Digital Reality.
Shumps (or space shoot'em ups, which is what the term stands for) used to be a thriving genre during gaming's golden age. But these days, you'll only really find them being made in Japan.
Hence why a half Japanese/half Hungarian offering was so notable in the first place. Even more so than it unique time altering mechanic, along with its nonlinear narrative.
Anyhow, fans of that game might be happy to know that the newly formed Prior Games, which consists of individuals who were at Digital Reality, including Sine Mora director Theodore Reiker, will be releasing a brand new shump in 2014.
And, according to Polygon, the new title, code-named "Project Verona", will also be a Japanese-Hungarian co-developed titled, much like Sine Mora was.
Though it's also described as being "less ambiguous" in the story telling department and "more conservative" in the gameplay department, which is actually not such great news for fans of the aforementioned effort.
Only time will tell if it's a worthy follow-up. But the most important thing is, it's nice to know that such games are not being solely developed in Japan.
