Mass Effect 3 and its DLC have, for some reason or another, contained references to future, unreleased content. Yesterday, the game was updated with some new content for its multiplayer portion, and a memory issue related to loading DLC.
Gamer-sleuths on Clevernoob who delved into the files have discovered that the update included new references to the Reckoning multiplayer DLC, which appears to contain a new game mode that uses save data from the single-player campaign, specifically with regards to moral choices and your Renegade and Paragon points.
The Reckoning DLC, though not formally announced, was leaked through a description on the Xbox Marketplace which reads as follows (via reddit):
“The day of reckoning is nigh! The Reckoning Multiplayer Expansion brings six new never before seen co-op story missions to the game and new co-op gameplay modes. It provides four new maps to conquer and hazard variations of the Earth maps.
“It also enables reinforcement packs that offer new kits for the salarians, krogans, humans and volus. In-game reinforcement packs now include three new weapons (Chakram Launcher, Blood Pack Punisher and Adas Anti-Synthetic Rifle).”
I for one am itching to see what BioWare does with the multiplayer portion of Mass Effect 3. With any luck, it'll do more than just add a few new maps and a few new guns to play with.
