While we already know that Crysis 3 and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 won't be making their way onto the Wii U, Nintendo fans will be glad to know that Activision's The Walking Dead FPS game is slated to appear on the publisher's next-gen console.
Not to be confused with Telltale Games' excellent The Walking Dead adventure game, Activision's take on the zombie series will be a shooter, and will even feature some of the TV show's stars.
The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct making its way to the Wii U was revealed by producer Glenn Gamble in a game preview on DigitalSpy (via CVG). In it, Gamble reveals that they were halfway through the game when the "Wii U thing started coming about."
Gamble states, "We didn't want to change the game, because the game had already been established, so we tried to say, 'What can we augment with the Wii U version?" And adds, "That's where it's basically a more elegant inventory management system. With the Wii U you have access to your backpack at all times, so you can tap what weapons you want, you can drop stuff. It's a lot more streamlined."
So, something similar to ZombiU, then? Whatever Terminal Reality has plans for their take on the franchise, they have their work cut out for them since you know people will compare it to Telltale's GOTY-winning episodic series.
The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct is scheduled for a March 29 release (in the UK) for the PC, Xbox 360, PS3 and now the Wii U.
Anyone looking forward to this or do you feel mashing the franchise into the shooter genre was a mistake?
