Have you ever wanted to play Mega Man as a first-person shooter game? Yeah, I haven't thought of that too, but just in case you have, a fan-made projection called Mega Man 8-bit Deathmatch recently launched its free update that will, as you can guess, let you play as the Blue Bomber in an FPS scenario.
Made by the folks over at Cutsuff, MM8BDM is a mod and is not supported officially by Capcom. It will give players the chance to play through the Mega Man universe in a first-person setting but it will retain the game's classic 8-bit look. Seeing as the series has always been a platformer, or action-adventure game, the controls too have been given a facelift to accommodate the new gameplay styel.
If you're a Mega Man fan or just curious how this has turned out, watch the gameplay trailer below.
MM8BDM comes with both a single-player campaign and a multiplayer mode with various game modes and customization options. If you want to give it a go, head on over to the team's official site to download it for free.
Is it just me or are fans more active in making stuff for the Mega Man franchise than the actual publishers themselves? First we got the free Street Fighter X Mega Man game, and now we have this. What's next? Mega Man 11 announced as a fan-made game with official backing from Capcom?
Anyone curious to see how Mega Man plays as an FPS? If so, share your experience below. Maybe if this becomes a big hit Capcom might do one officially. I mean, it's not like Mega Man Legends is coming out anytime soon, right?
