Telltale Games has a long history of creating adventure games that are based upon film properties. The Walking Dead, which won the top slot of many best of 2012 lists, is an excellent example of the studio at their best. While their stab at Jurassic Park is one that is best not mentioned.
But there are definitely other IPs that the studio would love to get their hands on. Including Star Wars, according to a chat with Redbull UK. And it makes total sense, really, given Telltale's background:
“Coming from LucasArts we always felt we could do a great Star Wars story game.”
There have been numerous Star Wars games as well, and again, some have been better than others. One could easily see Telltale's effort being one of the better ones, provided that they had the same team responsible for The Walking Dead on that one.
Especially when one considers the best Star Wars games, that being Knight of the Old Republic 1 & 2, have been so story driven, which is Telltale's expertise.
They also noted how:
"We also love the idea of building out a deeper story to a great game franchise, something like Half Life Stories or Halo Stories."
