Halo 4's Major League Gaming V1 settings have been released and I gather it might make some people unhappy. Now, keep in mind htat this is just V1 and things are bound to change in the future (for reference, Halo Reach went up to V8).
First up, the DMR has been taken out in favor of the Battle Rifle as the MLG starting weapon. I gather this change might not sit well with Halo vets, but again, this is just V1 and there's a chance this could change in the future.
Compared to the DRM, the Battle Rifle has recoil, a faster rate of fire and shot spread. Additionally, the Battle Rifle requires the user lead his shots over a moving target, which makes it harder to hit targets on the move. So why the change, then? Maybe 343 wants more people to use Team Shots (when two or more members focus their fire on a single target to take them out)? Possibly so.
Also, there are no secondary weapons or Armor abilities. Speaking of the latter, only three Armor abilites will be available for players to choose from: Thruster Pack, Hologram and Hardlight Shield.
However, you can equip the Resupply and Explosives "perks." Resupply allows you to pick up grenades off the ground, while Explosives gives your 'nades more damage and you take less damage from them, too. Regarding ordinance drops, don't expect any weapons to be dropped.
Again, and I can't stress this enough, this is just for V1. So if you don't like what you've read so far (and chances are you won't), there's a very high possibilty things will change. Expect the MLG playlist to hit Halo 4 sometime this month or in February. We, of course, will keep you posted on any updates.
So, do you agree with the MLG V1 settings or will this be just like Halo Reach where grenade spam and overpowered explosives were the norm?
