It's almost hard to remember that there was once a time when two music simulation series were regularly competing on the market. Back in their heyday, Rock Band and Guitar Hero will pulling in cash by the bucketload. Having oversaturated the market with numerous spin offs and add ons, it comes as no surprise that the genre finally lost steam and hasn't been as popular in recent years.
Before the big bust however, which saw Activision pulling out of the rythem based game market all together, they had another project in the works to capitalize on the Hero name. Sing Hero, shown in the concept art above and below, was in development by Pi Studios, the folks responsible for the Wii ports of Rock Band. In this karaoke based iteration of the series, players would earn points based on their number of fans. While this version of Sing Hero is cancelled (Pi Studios has been closed), Siliconera mentions that Activision recently filed another trademark with the name, suggesting they're at least keeping the option alive.
Would you bother playing a Sing Hero? Or are there already enough karaoke style games out there?
