When everyone comes up with their best of 2012 lists in the next week or so, hopefully Retro City Rampage will not be overlooked, because it definitely deserves recognition.
What initially began has a homebrew project that simply sought to recreate the GTA experience on a NES became would eventually become a full blown game that also managed to incorporate a mountain's worth of 80's pop cultural references, plus nods to other games.
And, for just today, both the PS3 and Vita versions are available for just $10. Also, as Joystiq reports, one can also purchase a copy for the PC from the game's maker directly, Vblank Entertainment.
Meamwhil, Destructoid reports that the long awaited WiiWare version is finally in sights. It’s coming sometime in January 2013. The WiiWare version was one of the very first platforms to be announced, yet was not included when Retro City Rampage finally arrived a few months back, the Wii was not included.
Many assumed that it would never be the case, given how dead the overall WiiWare/Virtual Console ecosystem has come in recent times. But now that we have the Wii U, there comes a need for as much content as possible. And Retro City Rampage is a most welcome addition to any digital library.
