Polygon reports that the upcoming Bit.Trip Presents… Runner 2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien from Gaijin Games will feature the vocal talents of Charles Martinet, who is best known as the voice of Mario.
The role that we will be playing is himself, Charles Martinet, as the narrator of the game's cut scenes.
Apparently, the plan was for Martinet to breath life into one of the many characters that they had been created for the game. But when the voice actor showed up for work and did a few lines as himself, Gaijin Games changed their plans.
Polygon states that developers are comparing the guest spot to Leonard Nimoy's role in the cult hit Seaman for the Sega Dreamcast, who stated who he was in tha ttitle, and which created a real "crack the forth wall" moment.
Runner 2 is due early next year, but not just for the Wii U. Though Martinet does more than just Mario, so this isn't the first time his voice has appeared in a game that's not exclusive to a Nintendo console.
