2 Player Productions, best known for their work on the Penny Arcade reality series, and most recently for their association with Double Fine Productions, has just announced that their long awaited documentary on Minecraft is finally here.
Minecraft: The Story of Mojang was funded via Kickstarter well before the crowd sourcing platfom officially blew up, thanks to Tim Schaffer. It traces the game's humble beginnings, right as it was catching on fire, and follows its meteoritic rise, with a good deal of attention spent on its legion of fans.
The documentary will be available in both physical and streaming formats. The former is courtesy of Fangamer, and the later via Redux, starting December 23. But the film will world premiere on Xbox Live the evening before, on December 22, at 8pm EST.
The premiere be available for free to Xbox Live Gold subscribers in the US, UK, Ireland, Belgium, Portugal, Austria, France, Finland and Sweden, according to Major Nelson.
