When working in a big company, people normally get an award or trinket when they hit certain milestones. In some cases, it can be as little as five years, while in others, it could be as long as twenty years or until you retire.
For normal institutions, a gold watch is the norm when you hit two decades' worth of service. But for Blizzard employees, they're getting something much, much more awesome than that.
Seen over at BlizzPlanet, employees who reach the 20-year mark will receive the helmet shown below. It's inspired by Diablo 3's Archangel Imperius made by its maker, Blizzard 's Vice President of Art & Cinematic Development Nick Carpenter.
The helmet is a new reward, which won't be ready until next year and seeing as it's given for 20-years' worth of service, there's not a lot of people who's scheduled to receive it for now. For reference, Blizzard started operations in 1991, so the company itself isn't that old compared to other institutions.
However, the helmet isn't the only one milestone award the company has. If you've been with the studio for five years, you'll get a sword and for a ten year tenure, you'll get a shield to go along with it. Both items can be seen below, too.
So, what will employees get when they reach the 30-year mark, then? Seeing as they already have a helmet, sword and shield, maybe a breastplate to go along with it to complete the set?
Whatever that item might be, I think it's safe to say that it will infinitely be much more awesome than any cruddy gold watch can ever hope to be.
