The Behemoth decided today to remind everyone of the existence of Battleblock Theater, their long awaited and much anticipated follow-up to Alien Hominid and Castle Crashers.
The co-operative/competitive platformer was first unveiled three years ago and has since become a staple at various trade shows, like E3 and Penny Arcade Expo. But outside of those venues, the game has been largely forgotten about.
The development blog posted the following:
"Although we won’t have a release date this year, or more specifically before the upcoming Mayan Apocalypse, we are excited to be hitting the home stretch with development of this game. It is indeed very exciting to us and hopefully to you too, but there’s still a lot of things to accomplish before our little baby can be released into the world.
As you might already know, or for those who don’t know, there’s many rounds of testing, tweaking and submissions to different departments for review that we have to accomplish before we feel confident with releasing the game."
So there is still no release date after all this time, and it's also odd hearing about the continued need for testing, given how much action it has gotten at the aforementioned events. Then again, there's no such thing as too much play testing.
