It's almost Christmas time, and that means Valve intends to celebrate the festive season with the inclusion of Christmas-themed goodies for both Team Fortress 2 and DOTA2. Sadly, Left 4 Dead and its sequel aren't a part of their plans.
In Team Fortress 2, new crates have begun to appear in players' inventories following an overnight patch, labeled "Naughty" or "Nice". The packages carry a rare designation and there's no current way to unlock them, as Valve has yet to release the keys to the new crates. Players should keep their eyes peeled on the Mann Co Store for new holiday-themed keys once it's updated with new items.
In addition to Team Fortress 2, Valve is also planning to release a new update for DOTA 2, which we're tentatively referring to as the "winter patch", that is set to include a host of new props for character avatars. A recent patch was dissected by CyborgMatt, and found to contain references to new content ranging from artwork and sound effects to nods to a new "Frostivus" game mode that has yet to be officially revealed.
The references to the "Frostivus" game mode are linked to an image of ice skates, and sound files of skating characters.
The patch is also set to include a new character called Rizzrack the Timbersaw, who happens to be a goblin in a wood-cutting mech. He's a lot like the lumber company shredders in World of Warcraft.
