If you've been living under a rock for the past few months, you might have missed the big news that Epic's Cliff Bleszinski, or more commonly known as CliffyB, has resigned from his post at Epic Games.
So, what has he been up to all this time? Apart from visiting various gaming studios, he can't quite reveal just yet. But one thing's set in stone for now, CliffyB will start his own studio.
In an interview with G4, which you can see below, Bleszinski states, "I'll start a new studio soon maybe and it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when and with who."
It's about 3:30 in if you want to hear CliffyB utter the exact words.
Aside from that revelation, Bleszinski admits that he doesn't want Gears of War's chainsaw gun to be his legacy. In the same interview, CliffyB relates it to acclaimed-director Steven Spielberg and how he's not just known for E.T.
Blezsinski states that most people forget that before he worked on the Gears of War franchise, he worked on Jazz Jackrabbit and the Unreal Tournament franchise. He adds that "moving forward, I would like to work on something new and fresh and kind of redefine my legacy."
Regardless of where CliffyB sets up shop or whom he shacks up with on the development side, we'll be sure to keep you updated on the situation. It's not everyday someone making videogames is nicknamed "Dude Huge," no?
Do you want Bleszinski to start his own indie studio or should he partner up with the likes of EA, Activision, or other big-name publisher? Also of note, what game do you want him to work on next?
Thanks, Polygon
