Tis the season in which game companies send journalists Christmas cards. Though Crytek, who is currently fine-tuning Crysis 3, just sent along the following in the form of an email:
This year at Crytek, we’ve decided to donate the money we would usually spend on Christmas cards to charity. As we considered the options for how to spread cheer over the festive season, we agreed it was a good way to go and have made a donation to the Kinderhilfestiftung e.V..
We also felt, however, that without physical cards to send our friends, we should make a special effort to create something digital for your enjoyment! The results of that effort can be found over at www.crytek.com in the form of our musical mini-game, A Very Crytek Christmas. Can you keep the beat as you discover our iconic characters like never before and play along with two classic seasonal songs?
From everyone at Crytek, we hope you have a very happy and relaxing holiday season and a wonderful start to the New Year. We look forward to working with you in 2013!
The game, which again can be played on their homepage, is a definite departure from what most have come to expect from developer. Instead of being a militaristic first person shooter, it's a Guitar Hero-like experience that, naturally, taps into some holiday standards.
Though it is like their previous offerings in one way: it's tough as nails, even at the easiest setting.
