EA Maxis has released a new video with the creative director of SimCity to explain a little about what the upcoming game has to offer.
The new video, narrated by creative director Ocean Quigley, is titled "Poke, Prod, and Tinker" and shows the extent of freedom you'll have with SimCity.
Quigley shows that it's possible to build a city in the layout of an electric guitar, but explains that you'll get massive traffic jams as a result.
"SimCity is a living, breathing world. And the consequences of every action you take creates an engaging, fun experience. By playing, you can actually learn something about how real cities behave," says Quigley. "As the mayor of SimCity, it's your responsibility to make sure your Sims are happy and your city works."
Quigley goes on to show how the game takes its simulations seriously, by tracking everything from traffic to crime, which, he says, even affects neighboring cities. In fact, if your city's crime levels are high, neighboring cities will even be affected by it when criminals go over there to wreak havoc at their banks.
Like the real world, cities don't exist in a vacuum, so everything you do in your city will have consequences to the cities around you. Likewise, the cities your friends run in the same region will affect what happens in yours.
SimCity is set for release on the PC and Mac on March 5, 2013.
