Could Capcom be working on another ensemble fighter? The publisher has trademarked "Fighters of Capcom" just this November 8th with the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office).
In the documents section of the filing, the description states the following (via Rockman Corner):
Computer game software; Computer games in the form of cartridges, cassettes, discs or tapes; Video game cartridges; Downloadable game software; Downloadable computer games; Electronic game programs for mobile phones and smart phones; Electronic game software for mobile phones and smart phones; Downloadable game program for playing on mobile phones and smart phones; Downloadable game software for playing on mobile phones and smart phones; Screen saver software and wallpaper software; Downloadable screen saver software and wallpaper software for mobile phones and smart phones; Downloadable graphics and music via a global computer network; Downloadable graphics, music and ring tones for mobile phones and smart phones.
While it's easy to speculate that this is for a new fighting game, there is the possibility that this could also be for Capcom All-Stars with Everyone — a mobile card game RPG that's now out in Japan. Obviously, it's more of a card game than your typical fighter but it does include characters from Capcom's stable.
If not that, from the title alone, it can also be a documentary or a compendium of Capcom's history of fighting games. Odds are we won't know for sure until the publisher makes it official. Until then. what do you hope this means? Maybe another fighter pulling from Capcom's hefty stable or possibly a documentary detailing each fighting game's history?
