For those that pre-ordered or bought Black Ops 2 on the day of its release, you were rewarded by Activision by getting exclusive access to Nuketown 2025 and a double XP weekend on the game's first week of release.
Now that the weekend's over, people are finding out that not only is the double XP gone, but so is the Nuketown 2025 playlist! This was confirmed by Treyarch game director David Vonderhaar over on Twitter where he tweeted the following messages:
Double XP weekend is official over. That means Nuketown 2025 / 24-7 is as well. I know. RIGHT? Don't kill the messenger. +
Nuketown 2025 / 24-7 will be back for special events. You can always play it with your friends in Custom Games.
So, right now, if you want to play Nuketown 2025, you'll have to do so in a custom game. And just in case you're wondering, nope, I'm not a fan of this move either…and I don't even play on Nuketown 2025 that much.
Based from Vonderhaar's tweets, it seems like whatever or whomever is behind this is out of his hands. Hence the "don't kill the messenger" part of his tweet. Could Activision be reserving this for double XP events? If so, why punish those who bought the game new or pre-ordered? Having the map in the rotation won't affect or hurt anyone, and it certainly won't lower the playerbase at all, right?
How do you think Treyarch or Activision should approach this? Are you bothered in anyway at all with this recent turn of events? Let us know in the comments.
In the meantime, I suggest watching this mythbusters episode for Black Ops 2 to lighten the mood or watch this one where an Xbox 360 player goes nuts in Nuketown 2025 and manages to kill 107 people in one match!
