A NeoGAF thread has captured Nintendo’s trademark submission for proposed theme park, Super Nintendo World. The trademark, which was filed very recently, actually pertains to U.S. locations even though it’s (Super Nintendo World) been registered in Japan. It’s probably the case that the trademark will cover what happens in the U.S. Super Nintendo Worlds in Orlando and Florida. Arguably the most interesting part of the trademark is the Goods and Services Section, which lists a whole range of merchandise to be sold at the theme park, and even says there will be “management or arrangement of kart racing”. What do we think? Well, it sounds like code for real life Mario Kart, and wouldn’t that just be amazing? Instead of organised flash mobs in shopping centres we might be able to show our love for Mario and co in a less disruptive (and perhaps more legal) fashion.
Nintendo has previously sued a go-karting company using their popular mascot as the main theme.
