Despite the fact that no one reads video game magazines anymore, many gamers, at least those who are in the mid to late 20s and beyond, have a soft spot for them. And when word came when one of the most beloved gaming rags of them all, Nintendo Power, the reaction was a mix of sadness but understanding.
Many were hoping for an 11th hour rescue, but for the time being at least, it's a done deal. Yesterday was the last day of business for the publication, as evidenced by tweets by those who put the final issue to rest. Steven Thomason, the now former editor in chief, stated:
"Well, that's a wrap on the final issue of Nintendo Power. It sure feels weird to type that…"
Several of his colleagues echoed the same exact sentiment on Twitter as well. According to reports, the very last issue is slated to hit newsstands on December 11.
For those who haven’t heard, yesterday was also the day in which it was revealed that Xbox World and PSM3, both gaming rags in the UK, have also been put to rest. Their final issues come out next month as well.
