Sony has announced on their official forums that the PlayStation Network will be undergoing maintenance on November 11.
Don't worry though, as the maintenance period is just for a short three-hour period and if you've signed in to PSN over the past few days, online play and accessing apps will be available to you. Although, you might receive a maintenance notification when attempting to access the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home and Account Management on the XMB…in short, these services will be available during this three-hour period.
This planned maintenance is scheduled for the night of Sunday, November 11, from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. (Monday morning) Pacific Time (1 a.m. to 4 a.m. Eastern).
Based on the announcement, this maintenance period is for the U.S. PSN service. So, if you're in the U.S. or if you use a U.S. PSN account and you want to be able to play online uninterrupted, I suggest logging on now so the maintenance won't affect you in anyway.
While these downtimes are a hassle for gamers everywhere, keep in mind that it is just for three hours and online play on the PSN is free. So, when you think of it that way, it's not so bad, isn't it?
