It's hard to argue that this E3's most pleasant surprise was Ubisoft's unveiling of its new game, Watch Dogs. It looked so good that most people assumed it was slated for next-gen and wouldn't be out for at least a few more years.
Fortunately, that's not the case, as Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has confirmed that Watch Dogs is scheduled for a 2013 release during the pubisher's financial earnings call yesterday. Guillemot revealed, "Watch Dogs will be coming next year," this was in reference to what Triple A games Ubisoft has on the docket for 2013,
One thing is still a mystery though, we still have no concrete idea if Watch Dogs is slated for current-gen consoles or next-gen consoles…or both. It also worth mentioning that even if Guillemot did schedule Watch Dogs for 2013, that doesn't mean it's guaranteed it will ship in that timeframe. Games get delayed all the time and with something as ambitious as Watch Dogs, I wouldn't be surprised if it did — especially since Ubisoft bills it as their next "big brand."
Do you believe Watch Dogs will ship in 2013? More importantly, do you think it will it be a current-gen game?
