Popular 4X sci-fi strategy Galactic Civilizations III is being updated with a new Civilization Builder, Galactic Citizens mechanic and interactive missions as part of its ‘Crusade’ expansion, it has been revealed. Stardock Entertainment made the announcement today, explaining that the Civilization Builder in particular will allow players to customise everything from ship fleets to diplomacy dialogue.
Stardock CEO Brad Wardell said “Crusade is huge”, and will feature a multitude of adjustments including the ability to conduct strategic invasions, train citizens as spies, a more accessible ship designer and updated economies and alliance systems. Players’ choices will now have more impact: Violating an alliance means separate civilizations could respond unfavourably and sour diplomatic relations, affecting trade. The expansion also addresses the ‘grind’ issue 4X games can be guilty of by giving players the power to reuse transports, so they needn’t wait for their forces to rebuild any longer.
Interested players can purchase Galactic Civilizations III: Crusade today from the official game website for $19.99 USD (Note: it does require Galactic Civilizations III as a base game). Alternatively, a Galactic Civilizations III and Crusade bundle is also available for $39.98 USD.
