If you haven’t heard yet, Nintendo is releasing two new DS consoles: the 2DS/3DS Xl. While some fans are divided over spending cash and getting a new DS or sticking to the current 2DS/3DS, Nintendo has created a comparison chart of what to expect between the New 2DS XL vs. 2DS vs. New 3DS XL to sort the issue out.
Essentially the 2DS XL will feature stereo sound, a bigger screen and can flip open and closed, more buttons an NFC reader which allows Amiibo functionality:
“Tap an amiibo™ figure to the near-field communication (NFC) reader on the lower screen to enjoy amiibo features in compatible games. Get bonus items or content, customise your character, and more when you use amiibo figures (like Mario!) with compatible games.”
Gamers of all ages can play in style with the New Nintendo 2DS XL system. It gives you the power of the New Nintendo 3DS XL system in a streamlined, affordable package—and plays a huge library of games in 2D.
A new look and ergonomic design
Colorful accents add style, while the sleek clamshell design makes it comfortable to hold.
More controls
The C Stick brings enhanced controls** (like intuitive camera control) to compatible games, while ZL and ZR buttons give you plenty of options.
The 2DS XL is coming July 2017 and will retail for $149.99.
