Nintendo is having a big year so far with the upcoming launch of the Nintendo Switch 2. We all know that we are getting this console in just about a week. When Nintendo confirmed its launch date, it also revealed that the big first-party title coming to the platform will be Mario Kart World. This might be the game everyone is just about playing on the Switch 2 until some additional first-party games come out into the marketplace.
That said, we’re still waiting for new details to emerge. It doesn’t seem like we’re going but only a few days before new updates, leaks, and speculation posts appear about the game or console. One of the supposed leaks that may have surfaced recently is that Mario Kart World could feature a reverse mode option on its tracks.
This news comes from the folks at Nintendo Soup, who spotted an interesting Japan-only commercial for Mario Kart World. According to the video and report, the players in the commercial were racing through the course of the Mario Bros. Circuit. However, what is interesting is that the mini-map is flipped compared to the footage we’ve already seen in this course.
As Nintendo Soup noted, this could be due to something like Knockout Tour being played. However, what makes it interesting is that no UI elements for that mode were shown. Therefore, it could be an option to switch up the courses. That hasn’t been confirmed yet, but with the game approaching its release date, we don’t have much time to sit through before we find out if that’s actually the case.
Of course, it seems that some units might have already reached some player’s hands. Meanwhile, in other related news regarding the Nintendo Switch 2, a report from Nintendo stated that they are still working through various games that have some backward compatibility issues. It appears that very few games have issues, with another batch of affected games expected to be resolved by the time the console launches or shortly after.
