Industry Insider Offers A Breakdown Of What Might Appear During The Xbox Games Showcase

May 28, 2025 by Dennis Patrick

What will Microsoft bring out to fans this year?

We are quickly approaching June. This is a big month for the video game industry. If you’ve been following the industry for a very long, you know that June is typically filled with exciting showcases and events. Bringing on the summer months, developers and publishers offer a few looks at what could be coming to the marketplace soon or expected in the coming years. One of those events to hype up new announcements and updates is the Xbox Games Showcase.

This event is set to take place on June 8, 2025, at 1 PM EST. Much like previous events, we can expect to feature likely an hour’s worth of content at the event. However, what makes it a little more interesting is that Microsoft has been bringing its games to once-rival platforms. So, even if you don’t own an Xbox Series X/S or haven’t dabbled with the Xbox ecosystem in the past, this still might be an event to watch.

What we’re waiting to find out about is the games that might appear at the event. There is not much known yet about the games set to appear. We’re, of course, not expecting much notice for these games, as Microsoft will likely want to keep them under wraps for potential surprise reveals. One industry insider with a strong following who might be ready to share what they know is Jez Corden from Windows Central.

Recently, Jez wrote up a piece online about what he is speculating to appear. Unfortunately, there are no firm spoilers here. Instead, it’s just speculation and rumors of what he has heard. So, we’ll offer a breakdown of what was reported. To start, there are expectations that we will see updates to the service games Microsoft has in development; these include titles such as The Elder Scrolls Online, Fallout 76, and Sea of Thieves.

Meanwhile, there are some promising expectations for games that are expected to be released soon, such as within 2025 or next year. Those games are State of Decay 3, Gears of War: E-Day, Fable, and Double Fine’s next unannounced game. Of course, other games are more of a wild guess as to whether we’ll see some updates, like The Elder Scrolls VI, Clockwork Revolution, Perfect Dark, Contraband, and Everwild.

One thing Jez is not expecting to see is much from Blizzard, as they have their own event confirmed to happen next year. Of course, this is all speculation and rumors right now, as Jez wasn’t keen on confirming any of the games he knows will appear. That said, we do know that directly after the Xbox Games Showcase, we are getting a deep dive into Obsidian Entertainment’s upcoming game, The Outer Worlds 2. This showcase will follow shortly after it was recently announced that the studio lost Carrie Patel, who left to work at Night School Studio.
