Just a couple of days ago, we got to see the Mass Effect Trilogy's box art up close. Now we've finally got a release date for the PlayStation 3. The Mass Effect trilogy will release on PlayStation 3 on December 4th. This is about a month after Xbox 360 and PC receives the title, but we had long known that the PS3 version would come "sometime after" the other versions.
Honestly, PS3 gamers are likely happy to get the games at all, as Mass Effect 1 had missing from the console for five years. Mass Effect 1 will be available for release on the PSN at the same time as the $59.99 trilogy, only for $14.99. The compilation itself will be available both digitally and through retail.
Previously fans suspected issues because of Microsoft's hold on the title, which very may have been why it took so long to come to the PlayStation 3. Edge of Reality is handling the port of the original game, despite the original engine not supporting PS3. BioWare claims the PS3 version "runs pretty damn well" however. The PS3 version of Mass Effect will only include Bring Down the Sky, you will have to purchase Pinnacle Station. No extra DLC will be added for Mass Effect 2 or 3 either.
