It might not be the main installment some fans were hoping for, but a new Pikmin title is in the works. We’ve heard about Hey! Pikmin all the way back during September 2016’s Nintendo Direct and now we’re getting word on when we can expect to see the video game launch.
Finally, Captain Olimar and his Pikmin friends are making a return since their late debut in 2013 of Pikmin 3 for the Nintendo Wii U. This time the video game installment to the franchise is a 3D side-scrolling title with action gameplay influences.
Releasing only on the Nintendo 3DS, Hey! Pikmin’s release date was revealed during this month’s Nintendo Direct. Gamers who may be interested in the video game can expect it to launch on July 28, 2017.
Likewise, it was also revealed that the video game will make use of the amiibo feature of the 3DS with the Pikmin amiibo that will also launch alongside the video game. Unfortunately, we’re unsure of just what the specialized amiibo will do within the game yet, but details will likely be released in the coming months.
Furthermore, Nintendo may have Hey! Pikmin being demoed off at this year’s E3 event, but that’s purely speculative on my part. Regardless, take a look at the Nintendo Direct for April 2017 if you have yet to do so within the video posted above.
