Resident Evil is a staple name when it comes to the survival horror franchise, however, as of late, the series has taken a turn for the worse. That’s according to some gamers who are fonder of the classic survival horror aspect to the genre rather than the over-the-top blockbuster action sequences that were present in Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6.
Capcom changed courses when it came to Resident Evil 7. The video game was a breath of fresh air for classic Resident Evil survival horror fans as the eerie presence and difficult horrific gameplay were in full focus. It’s because of this that has some gamers already wondering what’s next for the franchise and what could we possibly see with Resident Evil 8.
It turns out that Capcom already has things set in motion for the next installment which was revealed during the latest and last installment of the Making Of series for Resident Evil 7.
The fourth installment of this series has Executive Producer Jun Takeuchi discussing the development of Resident Evil 7 and his thoughts on the franchise future. According to Takeuchi, in the future, technology will continue to advance which could adjust how the developers craft the next game. Still, Capcom wishes to create a horror experience where the characters can overcome a difficult situation.
“Plans for the next title are already in motion and, when you see that game, you may find that it is very different from Resident Evil 7 in some ways, while still retaining that core survival horror concept of people overcoming the odds. Resident Evil will always retain that essence.”
