Microsoft has announced the details of Gears of War 4’s April update, which adds new maps, Easter-themed content, and balance changes among other things. All of this was covered on Xbox Wire.
The new mode, “Bunny Hunt” gives players giant bunny heads reminiscent of Frank from Donnie Darko. There are five chocolate Easter egg weapon skins that you can unlock as well. Microsoft will announce more details about the Easter content next week. The event itself launches on April 14th.
April’s Gears of War 4 update adds two more maps you may recognize from Gears of War 3: Hotel and Slab. They have been updated and refined for the new game.
Another COG character for the Legacy Character lineup is also coming to Gears of War 4 with this April update. This follows Tai, who was released in March. The Locust character Kantus is also coming to Gears of War 4 through a Gear Pack in April.
New Horde and Versus events are scheduled to begin on April 21st and April 28th. Microsoft is also rolling out new weapon tuning changes for Gears of War 4 in April as well. This is described as a “major update” for both Core and Competitive.
“Our Core changes mostly focus on making the starting weapons fit their role better than before, with reduced range on the Gnasher, improvements to the Hammerburst and slight tweaks to the Lancer,” Microsoft said. “For Competitive, it’s all about adjustments that highlight the teamwork and competitive nature of playing with these team-focused settings.”
