While Capcom has yet to confirm a Resident Evil game for Nintendo's upcoming Wii U, Resident Evil Revelations director Koshi Nakanishi admits that doing one on the platform could produce a "very unique" Resident Evil title.
In an interview with Official Nintendo Magazine, Nakanishi thinks the Wii U's GamePad could give them the opportunity to make something "very unique" when it comes to creating Resident Evil games.
If I was to work on a game for the Wii U, I would definitely want to make something that couldn't be done on any other hardware…The GamePad's separate screen enables so many possibilities, and playing on a television screen would enable sharing the experience in a way that wasn't possible on Nintendo 3DS. I feel it would let us create a very unique and fun Resident Evil game.
Nakanishi also comments that there are a "lot of things" he'd like to try out on the Wii U and adds that game creators could come up with never-before-seen gameplay ideas due to the GamePad.
Keep in mind that this is not a confirmation of a Resident Evil game being announced for the Wii U. Of course, seeing how Resident Evil 6 turned out, I'm hoping Capcom jumps at whatever chance's available to redeem the franchise, no? Then again, are fans even clamoring for a new Resident Evil game at this point?
Would you want a Resident Evil game built exclusively with the Wii U and its GamePad in mind? If so, how can they right the wrongs Resident Evil 6 made to the franchise's legacy?
