343 Industries appears to have snuck out three videos pertaining to Halo 4. They're very cryptic in nature, and they appeared on third party YouTube channels including Halo Council, ducain23, and ReadyUpLive.
All three channels have been dedicated to promoting and talking about Halo for sometime now, so it's no big surprise that the studio would leverage key members of the community to promote what appears to be an ARG or Alternate Reality Game for Halo 4.
The three videos, which you can see below, are titled Gallagher, Glacier, and Butterfly—all three of which relate back to the message of "an ancient evil awakens". For whatever reason, the Gallagher trailer has the Halo 4 music playing throughout the video.
If you look at all three videos carefully, the Butterfly video shows an "11" at the end and the other two videos show "05", whether this has something to do with the release date, November 6, is yet to be discovered, but nevertheless it gives fans of the series to unravel the mystery behind these three videos.
Anyone who's paid attention to Halo 4 since E3 2012 will have some familiarity with the phrase—given that it was the title of the live-action trailer 343 Industries and Microsoft showcased at the event.
The "ancient evil" of course refers to the Prometheans, which have awakened and threaten the fate of the entire universe, with only Master Chief and the UNSC to stop them.
If you can make any sense of these videos, tell us in the comments below, because we're about as stumped as everyone else.
