Hot on the heels of the just announced Ultimate Songbird Edition and Premium Edition of BioShock Infinite comes a third iteration: The Siege of Columbia. But unlike the other two, you won't have to worry about which system to get it for, which is often contingent upon what virtual buddy list will contain the most friends who also own the game.
Instead, you'll just have to make sure you that you have plenty of refreshments and snacks when said friends come over, in the real world. Because BioShock Infinite: The Siege of Columbia is a purely tabletop game.
Polygon reports that the Plaid Hat Games developed package will include card, dice, a colorful game-board, and 52 miniatures. Though the final number could be more, so there's at least one extra, the Handyman. Which comes with the aforementioned Premium and Ultimate Songbird editions of the video game.
Colby Dauch, founder and chief game designer at Plaid Hat, explains…
Players will play as either the Founders or the Vox Populi and will build up an army to fight for control of Columbia by taking ground and completing important objectives… The whole while they'll be using their influence to sway various events that arise. They'll also find themselves having to deal with Booker and Elizabeth who are running around Columbia creating havoc.
The piece also details the thought process behind the game, including how…
No one involved was interested in recreating the video game experience in a board game. The video game is already going to do an amazing job of presenting that story and that experience. We are interested in creating another experience for fans of that universe.
No release date has been given, but it is presumed that it will around the time the video game comes out, which is early 2013.
