The Claptrap unit from the original Borderlands is dead. Handsome Jack killed him. That said, his death wasn’t in vain, as he appears to have gone offline while protecting a cache of loot for the one who discovers him.
If you head on over to the Arid Nexus in the Badlands, an area located towards the end of Borderlands 2, you can find the lifeless husk of the original Claptrap unit perched next to a high quality red chest which has the potential to contain some pretty powerful weapons and equipment.

Discovering the location will also earn you five Badass Ranks, so it’s worth the trouble to find.
Borderlands 2 is currently out on the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and has since seen the release of a new Mechromancer class DLC and a full-fledged story expansion pack called Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty.
