Ubisoft has announced today the creation of a map and texture pack for Minecraft inspired by Far Cry 3’s island setting. The mod will be available for free on the PC.
According to the publisher, the pack will allow players to explore and survive Minecraft through the warped lens of Far Cry 3. More than just a simple texture pack, the mod will modify all aspects of Minecraft, including environments, weapons, and tools. The mod even includes locations original to Far Cry 3 and characters including Vaas, Jason, and Citra, all of whom have been redesigned in Minecraft style.
Finally, the map included in the mod will feature up to 50 easter eggs which are hidden throughout the islands.
The map has been modded by Michael Lambert, creator of Newcraft City, and artists Axel Janssen and Yohann Delcourt. The entire package will be available for free on the official Far Cry 3 website on October 26. The mod will only work for the PC version of Minecraft, though there's no reason it shouldn't work for the Mac version of the game.
Far Cry 3 is set for release on December 4 for the PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
