From family gatherings to kicking back with some friends, there are plenty of great multiplayer party video games available. Now that we’re heading into 2017, you might want to consider adding a few new video game titles that will serve as a great way to entertain your guests.
Here are some of our favorite party video games that will be available next year. We, of course, would love to know what party video games you’re looking forward to playing most. Let us know by leaving a comment down below!
Gang Beasts
Developer: Boneloaf
Publisher: Double Fine Presents
Platforms: PC, PS4
Release Date: TBA 2017
Gang Beasts have already been played and shared online since 2014, thanks to the early access title, however, the full release is expected to launch in 2017. The video game is a local multiplayer beat ‘em up and a perfect one to enjoy as a party game.
Players will take the role of a colored humanoid figurine and battle against friends in a series of hazardous environments. Gameplay is easy to master and a bit more relaxed compared to titles such as the upcoming Tekken 7. If you have yet to enjoy the early access version of this game, do yourself a favor and mark down Gang Beasts as a title to watch for in 2017.

Developer: Angry Mob Games
Publisher: Angry Mob Games
Platforms: PC, PS4, XB1
Release Date: TBA 2017
Brawlout is an upcoming platform fighting title that plays out similar to the Super Smash Bros. series. The video game allows players to choose from a series of animal characters, each with their own unique abilities.
Again, much like the Super Smash Bros. series, players are tasked with battling friends on a small stage platform while attempting to score points by knocking the opposing players off the stage entirely.
Splatoon
Developer: Nintendo EAD
Publisher: Nintendo
Platforms: Wii U, Nintendo Switch
Release Date: TBA 2017 (Nintendo Switch)
This might be a bit of a stretch for this list, but Splatoon was one of our favorite Nintendo Wii U games to have released. With the Nintendo Switch releasing in 2017 and the game being heavily featured within the console reveal trailer, it’s likely that the Nintendo Switch will receive either a port of Splatoon or a completely new entry.
With the game heavily focused on team gameplay, we can’t wait to flood the city landscapes with our team colors once again. Splatoon was a great party game for all ages and we’re curious to see just how the gameplay mechanics will handle when and if the video game releases on the Nintendo Switch.
Just Dance 2017
Developer: Ubisoft
Publisher: Ubisoft
Platforms: PS3, PS4, XB 360, XB1, PC, Wii U, Wii, Nintendo Switch
Release Date: March 2017
If you’re a fan of the Just Dance series, the next upcoming installment is going to bring in a new catalog of music for you to dance through. The series has been running for quite some time now and it’s confirmed that Just Dance 2017 will see a release on the Nintendo Switch, one of the few titles at the time of writing this, to be confirmed officially, though the title will be releasing on other platforms already available today.
Just Dance 2017 will play out very similar to the previous installments of the franchise. Players will essentially use cameras or motion controllers to mimic the movement dance routine with the on-screen dancer and music selection. Depending on the accuracy of players mimicking the dance routine will determine their scoring and if they are able to progress through the game.
Just Dance Unlimited will also be making a return to Just Dance 2017. This is a subscription-based service where players will have access to a streaming library of songs from the previous Just Dance video games along with new songs exclusive only to the subscription service.
Sea of Thieves
Developer: Rare
Publisher: Microsoft Studios
Platforms: PC, XB1
Release Date: TBA 2017
Sea of Thieves is all about being a pirate with a crew. Scavenge for treasure, loot islands, take to the open sea, and battle against other crews that are unfortunate enough to come across your pathway.
User-generated content is a big feature for Sea of Thieves as well. Players will be able to craft their own custom stories using the various in-game tools. From there, these campaigns can be uploaded online for other players to download and enjoy on their own.
Henka Twist Caper
Developer: OriGaminc
Publisher: OriGaminc
Platforms: PS4
Release Date: TBA 2017
From indie development studio OriGaminc comes Henka Twist Caper, an upcoming PlayStation 4 title that will make use of your PlayStation Move controllers. Think of this upcoming title as Twister with a bit more physical combat.
Players are essentially confined in a small square where each will hold their own PlayStation Move controller. The goal of this title is for players to twist, turn, and move their controller around until they find their “sweet spot”, a point where the motion controller will light up and your game meter will rise. The person who fills their meter up first wins, but the other players are able to shove and push your controller to disrupt your meter.
Friday the 13th: The Game
Developer: IllFonic, Gun Media
Publisher: Gun Media
Platforms: PC, PS4, XB1
Release Date: TBA 2017
Normally video game adaptations of movies are a bit sub par, but we have high hopes for the upcoming Friday the 13th: The Game. This is an upcoming video game title that heavily focuses on multiplayer gameplay.
Friday the 13: The Game can support up to eight players, seven of which are camp counselors while one will take on the role of Jason Voorhees. There are two end goals to the game, the players can work together in order to defeat Jason while the main antagonist player will search and slaughter the hidden camp counselors.
Currently, the video game will focus on the multiplayer aspect, though a single-player campaign is in the talks despite the Kickstarter campaign failing to reach the stretch goal supporting the development costs.
Injustice 2
Developer: NetherRealm Studios
Publisher: Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment
Platforms: Mobile, PS4, XB1
Release Date: TBA 2017
The Injustice video game series will make a return with Injustice 2. Players will once again, be able to choose from a wide catalog of characters from DC Comics. In fact, the new title will not only return some of our favorite heroes and villains previously available within the first installment, but also bring out other new characters such as Atrocitus, Blue Beetle, Deadshot, Gorilla Grodd, and Supergirl.
As for the story, Injustice 2 will follow the events from the first Injustice: Gods Among Us title. Batman and his Insurgents attempt to bring society back together during Superman’s Regime, though a new threat arises that will put all of Earth at risk.
Tekken 7
Developer: Bandai Namco Studios
Publisher: Bandai Namco Entertainment
Platforms: Arcade, PS4, XB1, PC

You’ve likely played a title from the Tekken series, but if not, you’re fully aware of the franchise. This is a popular fighting title both in arcades along with home consoles. Tekken 7 will mark as the ninth installment of the Tekken franchise but will be the first to make use of the Unreal Engine.
Players can expect the normal gameplay mechanisms from the franchise along with a slew of new characters, stages, costumes, and items. For those who enjoy the franchise for its narrative plot, Tekken 7 will showcase the conclusion of the Mishima clan saga, along with providing answers between the feud of Heihachi Mishima, his son Kazuya Mishima, and his grandson, Jun Kazama. Furthermore, there will be other Tekken mysteries that will finally be solved through the campaign.
