SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake – How To Find All Gold Doubloons | Karate Downtown Bikini Bottom Guide

January 30, 2023 by Kevin Thielenhaus

You’ll need more than just karate to collect all the doubloons downtown.

Downtown gets a big budget makeover in Level 2 of Spongebob Squarepants: The Cosmic Shake. Squidward is directing a karate movie, and thanks to the cosmic gunk everywhere, that fantasy has become reality. In the big city, Spongebob learns how to karate kick balloons to travel long distances or stun enemies. You’ll have to use this new skill to platform to Karate Sandy’s secret dojo in the sky — and battle here. Along the way, you’ll find lots of secret doubloons. Here’s where to find them all.

Gold Doubloons are optional collectibles that unlock costume tiers from the shop. By collecting hidden Gold Doubloons, you’ll make more costumes available for purchase in the shop menu. Gold Doubloons are hidden through side-quests, in the environment, or by completing challenges. Some challenges can’t be completed until after returning to a level. If a lock icon appears over an element on the stage, you’ll need to return later after unlocking more abilities for Spongebob.

Gold Doubloon #1: Parking Lot – In the Parking Lot, use the floating tiki crate platform to jump onto the streetlamps. Follow the jelly, hopping across the streetlamps until you can hop over the fence. There’s a Gold Doubloon here and lots of jelly crates. Escape by using a karate kick on the fence marker.

Gold Doubloon #2: Dojo Estate – At the Dojo Estate, you’ll be ordered by Squidward to climb the outside of the tower. Instead of doing that, use the floating tiki crates to the left of the dojo tower to reach the watery area behind it. Use Karate Kicks on the balloons to cross the rocks. The last karate balloon will launch Spongebob over the wall and into the doubloon.

Gold Doubloon #3: Movie Hallway – At the end of the starting hallway packed with people, there’s a Karate Balloon to the right. Use a Karate Kick, which you’ll unlock in this level, to set off the explosive tiki crate. Kick the balloon again to enter the vent — then use Karate Kicks to reach the end of the electrified vent.

Gold Doubloon #4: Movie Hallway – In the same hallway, you can activate a purple button after completing Level 3. This summons fish hooks you can swing on. Swing through the obstacle course and reach the flaming ring at the end to earn a doubloon.

Gold Doubloon #5: Backlot – Near the end of the first auto-scroller section, you’ll fight a blob jelly that summons enemies. Defeat it, and you’ll reach a street with lots of fish cardboard cut-outs. Right after this, there is a gold doubloon on a raised wall. You need to jump on the cardboard awning to reach it. If you miss it, reset the section to try again.

Gold Doubloon #6: Back Alley – Continue through the segment until you reach a spot where boat mobiles are parked. Climb onto the nearby roof and use the slingshot once you have the ability unlocked. Ride the slingshot, then follow the path to a second slingshot. This shoots you to a previously unreachable doubloon on a high metal platform.

Gold Doubloon #7: Back Alley – Reaching the segment where Spongebob must jump across the rooftops of the flooded street with Karate Kicks to balloons, you’ll reach a long passage with red boards to bounce off of. Instead of following the karate boards, drop down to the water below. There’s a slingshot on a wooden platform. Ride the slingshot to a high rooftop with a doubloon.

Gold Doubloon #8: First Nautical Bank – In the crater next to the busted bank set, there’s a slingshot. Launch yourself and follow the path. This path is only available after completing Level 7 and unlocking the Reefblower. Use the Reefblower to blast the jelly walls until you can snake around and reach the bank rooftop.

Gold Doubloon #9: Parking Lot – In the third section of the parking lot, turn left to find a large purple button on a truck roof. This button requires completion of Level 7 and unlocking the Reefblower. Defeat all the enemies to earn a doubloon.

Gold Doubloon #10: Dojo Estate – In the Dojo Estate area, you’ll need to bounce up to the rooftops. Right at the start of the rooftops, you’ll find a large red race “Start” sign and a purple button. Once you unlock fishhooks and the slingshot, you can activate the switch. Swing across the hooks and complete the challenge before the time limit expires.
