About a year after his first banner, Kaedehara Kazuha returns to Genshin Impact in Version 2.8. Kazuha is a 5 Star Anemo, sword-wielding character. He’s from Inazuma, but currently lives and travels with the Crux Fleet. During the height of the Vision Hunt Decree, Beidou offered Kazuha sanctuary among her ranks. Now, it appears he’s decided to call the fleet home.
That is, unless your wishes bring him home.

Kazuha has a unique playstyle, focused around Plunging Attacks and Swirl reactions. He feels similar to Xiao, but his effectiveness relies on boosting his Elemental Mastery rather than his ATK. Kazuha can be used well either as a Sub-DPS or a Swirl Support, it just depends on what your current team needs.
Best Unit Category: Sub-DPS or Support
Kazuha can easily be built as a Sub-DPS or Anemo Swirl Support, so you can successfully integrate him into various team builds. Kazuha focuses on dealing Elemental and Anemo damage to either a single opponent or many within his AoE. Both builds take advantage of his high Swirl damage and buffs provided through said Swirls.
The main difference between the two builds is what aspect of Kazuha you focus on. While both builds focus on raising Kazuha’s Elemental Mastery as much as possible, his Sub-DPS build also tries to raise his offensive stats. Artifact substats for the Sub-DPS build should include ATK%, CRIT stats, and Anemo Bonus Damage. Meanwhile, his Support build should focus on keeping Kazuha’s Elemental Burst charged. This means that Support requires Energy Recharge over offensive stats.
Sub-DPS Best Weapons
5 Star – Freedom-Sworn
Overall, the Freedom-Sworn isn’t just the best weapon for Kazuha, but it’s one of the best weapons in Genshin Impact. This sword was first released a little over a year ago during Version 1.6. It makes its return in the Epitome Invocation banner alongside Kazuha. If you never pulled on a Weapon Banner and you want to, do it now. Beyond Kazuha, Freedom-Sworn is good for any Sub-DPS or Support character – except for Geo. Since there are only two sword-wielding Geo characters, one of which is the Traveler, this shouldn’t be a problem.
Freedom-Sworn boosts Elemental Mastery. Its skill is called Revolutionary Chorale. When a character creates an Elemental Reaction on and off-field, they gain a Sigil. The character can gain a Sigil once every 0.5 seconds. After 2 Sigils, both Sigils will be consumed and provide buffs for the entire party.
Basically, if you create a lot of Elemental Reactions, your entire team’s ATK stat receives a buff. Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attack DMG also receive a separate boost.
4 Star – Iron Sting
The Iron Sting boosts Elemental Mastery. Its skill boost DMG after the character deals Elemental DMG. This buff lasts for 6 seconds and can occur once every second. This works well with Kazuha’s Elemental Skill and Burst since they have a decent AoE and both deal Anemo damage.
3 Star – Harbinger of Dawn
Harbinger of Dawn offers a CRIT DMG boost. When the character’s HP is above 90%, Harbinger also boosts their CRIT Rate by 14%. Generally, boosting both CRIT stats is good for any character.
Swirl Support Best Weapons
5 Star – Freedom-Sworn
Freedom-Sworn is the best 5 star weapon for Kazuha, even with his Swirl Support build.
4 Star – Favonius Sword or Sacrificial Sword
Both of these swords boost a character’s Energy Recharge. The main difference between the two is that the Favonius Sword generates Elemental Particles upon critical hits while the Sacrificial Sword has a chance to end an Elemental Skill’s cooldown time after using said skill. Essentially, you can choose between using Kazuha’s Elemental Burst more frequently or his Elemental Skill.
3 Star – Dark Iron Sword
The Dark Iron Sword boosts Elemental Mastery, an essential for Kazuha. Additionally, upon causing an Overloaded, Superconduct, Electro-Charged, or an Electro-infused Swirl reaction, ATK is increased by 20% for 12 seconds. Because of the Swirl boost, this sword works best when you pair up Kazuha with at least one Electro character.
Best Artifact Set – 4PC Viridescent Venerer
Without question, Viridescent Venerer is the best artifact set for Kazuha. This goes for both his Sub-DPS and Support builds. If you’re using Kazuha for Sub-DPS, focus on Elemental Mastery, ATK%, Anemo DMG Bonus, CRIT DMG, and CRIT Rate. For his Swirl Support, just focus on Elemental Mastery.
At 2 pieces, Viridescent Venerer grants a 15% Anemo DMG Bonus. With 4 pieces, the Viridescent set increases Swirl DMG by 60% while decreasing opponent’s Elemental RES by 40%.
Generally for Kazuha, it’s best to use 4 pieces of a set rather than do a split set. Good replacement sets for Viridescent are Noblesse Oblige and Emblem of Severed Fate.
Best Partners
Though he’ll work well with any Pyro, Hydro, Electro, or Cryo character, Kazuha works best with characters who can easily trigger a Swirl reaction. Good partners include Ganyu, Fischl, and Bennett due to how their Elemental Bursts work. Bennett provides a DMG buff and healing while Ganyu and Fischl allow for great passive damage.
