MADiSON dumps you into a terrifying, twisted world to explore. You’ll have to solve puzzles and defend yourself with only your camera — by taking photos of different objects in the environment, you’ll reveal hidden passages or clues. The scariest part of MADiSON are the puzzles, and we’ve got a few solutions to help you navigate the first general area of the game. Here’s how to complete the puzzles in Grandpa’s House.

Code & Lock Puzzles
You’ll encounter multiple keypads, codes and passwords. Each code is randomly generated, but here’s how to find the solutions.
- Well Padlocks: Take a photo of the triangle wall art in the room with the Storage Container. Use the three symbols that appear on the photo.
- Green Safe: Find two notes to reveal the randomized code. The notes are located restroom and the downstairs clock room. Use Bolt Cutters to get the second note.
- Red Safe: Complete the Clock Puzzle to gain a combination clue in Luca’s Notebook. The lines / arrows marked in red show how many numbers to turn. If there are 5 red lines / arrow, you turn 5 Left. The numbers are setup in a left/right/left pattern.
- Door Padlock: As you progress, you’ll take photos of four red numbers. Use those numbers to unlock the small door padlock.
Solar Medallion Puzzle
In the room behind the stairs in Grandpa’s House, you’ll find a wall with three medallion slots. Find all three medallions and return to this room.
- The colors symbolize the planets of the solar system.
- Slot 1: Red / Blue
- Slot 2: Orange / White
- Slot 3: Blue / Green-Blue
Use the buttons beneath each medallion to flip the colors. The colors represent the solar system — line them up in the correct order of the planets.
- Solution: Blue, Red, Earth, Orange, White, Tan, Blue, Green-Blue
Attic Portrait Puzzle
In the attic bedroom, you’ll find four portraits and for empty spots on the walls. To solve the puzzle, you need to follow these steps.
- Take a picture of the empty portrait slot on the wall to reveal a number. There is a number at each of the four portrait walls.
- Check the back of the portrait. A number is written here.
- Add or Subtract the wall number and the portrait number.
- Combine the numbers that result in 43.
Ex. 38 (Wall) + 5 (Back of Portrait) = 43. Place the portrait with 5 on the wall.
The numbers on the walls / portraits are random. You’ll have to check each separately.
Clock Room Puzzle
To complete the Clock Puzzle, you must find clock faces and take them to other clocks in the area. Each clock face matches another clock face somewhere else in the house — the order you need to place these clock faces is randomized for each playthrough. The locations remain the same.
- Get the first clock in the Green Room Safe.
- The order of clocks is randomized. But the locations are always the same.
- Check the following rooms for clocks:
- Hallway outside the Safe Room
- Downstairs Clock Room
- Attic Bedroom
- Kitchen
- First Hallway
- Complete the puzzle and return to the Clock Room.
If you can find all the clock locations, you’ll be able to slowly unravel what order you need to play the clocks. After placing one clock, another will unlock and be given to you.
Animal Cage Puzzle
In the Father’s Room, you’ll find strange chains with hooks. You need to hang weights from the different chains to solve the puzzle. To solve the puzzle, use the Bolt Cutters in the Restroom to open the toilet and collect the Small Concrete Block.
- Bunny Hook: Place the Unfinished Clock.
- Mouse Hook: Place the Small Concrete Block.
- Snake Hook: Place the Large Concrete Block.
The large concrete block is already in the room. After placing the weights, take a photo of the cage.
